ABA taught...
my family how to teach.
our son how to learn.
We learned that right answers are rewarding and that there are no wrong answers -- only opportunities for redirection. Our son learned the important things; the basic foundations of learning – how to sit, how to listen and how to respond.
ABA teaches you to look up when you hear your name, that sitting down to work is much more productive than running around flapping your arms, and that learning is rewarding.
And most importantly, my whole family saw how learning one thing makes you ready to learn another, and another, and another, and, that all the little bits add up to a whole picture.
